Buyers Choose Connected TV Over 3D This Holiday Season As Set-Top Box Demand Drops

If I personally was given the choice of 3D or Connected for a new TV purchase, I would choose connected. Apparently, I’m not the only one according to some new data from Parks Associates in regards to flat-panel TV purchasing intentions and the features .

Epic Meal Time Gets TV Deal, Will Terrorize Meat On G4

Epic Meal Time ’s success is amazing, and it keeps on rolling with the announcement that it will get a chance on the gaming/entertainment network G4 soon .  The deal gives Epic Meal Time a pilot, but let’s face it, that show is likely to get a season there as the show seems easily tailored for success on TV.  The web sensation was picked up by Revision3 in April and their YouTube channel has more than 2 million subscribers and nearly 300 million upload views.  And now, they go to a perfect place for their demented cooking show in G4. Epic Meal Time Gets TV Deal – The Latest YouTube Channel To Jump To TV This comes not too long after another YouTube sensation, The Annoying Orange , was picked up by The Cartoon Network last month .  Epic Meal Time will be produced by Comcast Entertainment Studios, with producers of The Soup and Web Soup on board.  According to the parameters of the deal, G4 will have no stake in the Rev3/YouTube version of the show.  Which makes me wonder, are they still going to produce episodes on the web while they do longer versions on G4

Expect Usage-Based Billing On Web From Cable Providers Soon

I actually wondered if this was something cable providers were chewing on in regards to the increased popularity of Netflix and Hulu.  Bloomberg reports that companies like Time Warner Cable, Inc, are considering charging customers for the amount of data they consume.  The extra charges would likely make people consider whether they want to spend a lot of time streaming full-length movies and TV shows if they get hit with a hefty fee.  So cable companies are considering hurting Netflix and Hulu through consumers’ Internet usage.  I think this might be a bad move for cable, though. Cable Likely To Wage War On Streaming AT&T, which uses DSL, already has a policy in place where, should a customer go over 150 gigabytes of data in three straight months, they will be charged $10 for every 50 gigabytes they use over the limit.  Companies like Comcast, Charter, and Cox institute a 250-gig cap and generally, people won’t use that much.  Those companies are quoted as saying they are not considering usage fees, but that’s to be expected.

Sony Cutting The Cable For You? Aiming For A Sony Online TV Service?

Remember when I was writing about Sony the other day, well really it was about Google TV and stuff, but I mentioned that Howard Stringer, the Sony CEO, was talking about big R&D in a new TV. Well, some speculation has launched into what that will be now and it seems that they want to cut your cable for you and give you video through an online service. Me?
