So your computer’s slow and you have no clue where to start to make it faster? Try cleaning up your Temp folder. Your computer’s operating system is designed to run as quickly as possible but after time it will start to slow down (don’t worry this is natural). Why does this happen? See when your first get your computer it is completely “clean”. Then after you have used it for a while what happens is that it will start to slow down since it starts to accumulate “junk” in different areas of the computers operating system. All you really have to do is to just go in there and clean up all of that junk – yes it’s that simple (well for the most part, you do also have to know how to tune your computer but that’s more in depth and beyond this article). This is why the idea of registry cleaners is so attractive – it cleans one area of your computer (your registry) to make it faster – but the big problem with registry cleaners is that they only clean one area while there are many different areas that need to be worked on to make your computer faster.

Your computer’s operating system (assuming its Windows based) is designed to use RAM as a temporary working place. Now when some of these files are in RAM they also need to work with other files temporarily and in order to do this they need to use a space on your hard drive. This space is folder called your Temp folder and when window’s is done working with files in the Temp folder it will just delete them. The problem comes when your computer crashes, freezes or you manually kill a program. The files that were in your computer’s Temp folder never got deleted and after time a lot of files can build in this folder and slow your computer down. All you have to do is to just go in there and delete them. Here’s how to do it:

For those of you that are using Windows XP start off by simply closing all of your running files and programs and then clicking on the Start button. next, click on Run and type %Temp% in the little box that appears and then hit the enter button. Whats going to happen now is that you’re going to get another window that will show you what’s in the Temp folder. All you have to do now is to just delete everything that you can in that folder. If for what ever reason it says that you cannot delete a certain file, just skip it and then just move onto the next file.

If you are using Windows Vista, close all of your currently running programs and files and start off by clicking the Start button in the bottom left hand corner of the scree. Now type Run in the start menu search box. When the Run window comes up type %Temp% and hit the enter button. Now delete everything that you see in that folder. If there are some files that you cannot delete all you have to do is to just ignore them and then move onto the next one and start selecting those.

So what are benefits of deleting as many files as you can in the Temp folder? Well for starters, you will have more space on your hard drive. You will also speed up your computer because having these files on your computer can actually cause it to have some internal errors which will obviously slow your computer down.

Many people hear the term “web design” and get scared. You have to be an artist with years of good programming skill to make your own web site and have it come out nicely, don’t you? Well, this is not the case! In fact, making a good web site is not that hard at all once you know what to do.

The first thing a good site has is good content. People visit web pages for what is on the page, not how the page looks. Ger out some paper and start listing things you would like on your web site. Things like “links”, “About me” and “Home” are always good starting points.

Once you know what is going to be on your site, it is time to organize it. Clump similar things together to create your main pages. For example, talking about your favorite book and your favorite band could both go under your “About me” page. Less is more as long as each main page is well-defined as people do not like having to wade through a lot of links to find what they want to know.

Once you have all your information narrowed down to a few nice pages, it’s time to design your layout. The three keys are visibility, ease of use, and compatibility. If you have those three things down, your site will be great.

Visibility is not about site popularity, it is about how easy it is to read things. Choose two contrasting complimentary colors for your site. Remember: the greater the difference in color shades the easier it will be to read! This is why colors like black and white work so well. Avoid using patterned backgrounds as it makes things hard to read.

Ease of use means that it is easy for people visiting your page to find what they want. All the main pages you came up with earlier should be clearly linked on an easy to read menu that will be in the same place on every one of your pages. If you have any sub pages, a site map linked in the footer of your web page is also a great idea.

The final thing to think about is compatibility. Your web page should be able to work on any browser and not require any sort of special software to run. This means that silverlight and flash are both poor choices for the web site as they don’t work on every browser and every operating system and can cause lag or even crashing when they do work. W3C compliant code is a good idea to have to make sure your site will work well.

Once you get down to the basics, web design is not very difficult. Just keep in mind the three keys of compatibility, visibility, and ease of use and organize your site well and you will be doing fine. Do not be afraid to make your own web page yourself. Give it a try and you may be very happy with the results.

If you have a slow computer and want to make it faster there are many different things that you can do to either clean up your computer or “tune up” your computer but why not consider this – what if you could get to the applications and programs that you frequently use much quicker? How much time do you think you would save every day?

If you were to add up all of that time spent looking around your computer it would eventually accumulate to a fair bit by the end of the week. So what’s the alternative? In this article I’m going to show you two little tricks that you can do so that you will be able to find your applications much quicker.

To being, let’s start off with the quick launch (if you not sure, the quick launch is that little group of icons that are right beside your start button). If you don’t see a little group of icons right beside your start menu, just right click on the taskbar and select Properties and then select Show Quick Launch to get them there. Now, in order for you to do anything you are going to have to unlock the quick launch. To do that, just right click on the task bar and select the Lock Taskbar option. By now you should be able to see some dotted lines which will allow you to resize it the quick launch window. Now all you have to do is to just find the top 3 applications that you use the most and then go through your All Programs list in the start menu and right click on their icons and select Copy. To add them, just go to your desktop, right click and select Paste. Now you should now see a copy of that icon on your desktop – all you have to do now to complete this is to just drag it into the quick launch area and the icon should be in bottom right hand corner next to the start menu (you can delete the shortcut that you copied to your desktop now since you will not be needing it). So every time that you start up your computer or just log on you don’t have to look all over the place those 3 programs – there right in front of you.

Now the start menu can also be of use to you when you are looking around for your applications. If you click on the start menu you will notice a faint horizontal line on the left hand side. Everything that is above this line is permanently there unless you manually remove it and everything below this line is programs that you have most recently used. What you’re going to want to do here is to add 3-5 programs that you use regularly to the permanent (the top part) of the list. Just go to All Programs on the start menu, right click on the program icon and select “Pin To Start Menu”. Do this for all 3-5 programs that you want to add to your start menu. Now you have your main 3 programs on your task bar and the other 3-5 regularly used ones on your start menu so you don’t have look around your computer to find where they are.

To take it to the next level you can spend some time cleaning up your desktop. A messy desktop can really slow down your ability to find what you are looking for. Delete all files that are unnecessary and put all important files into folders that are organized. You should really only have shortcuts to your applications and maybe a few important folders on your desktop.

A lot of people now a days are surfing the internet and are download and installing a lot of different types of programs from a lot of different sources. Now for the most part this isn’t of any concern as long as you are getting your programs from trusted websites that are known to be safe in the public domain.

The problem arises when you are using these programs on your computer and they hang. When a program hangs it can really kill your level productive (if it’s happening way too often) and it’s just plane old annoying. So, what can you do to prevent this? Kill the application from running. By “kill” I don’t mean to delete it, all I mean is to just stop it from running and then restart the program all over again later on.

But why do some programs hang and others just don’t? Well the short answer to it all has to do with your computers specific configurations and its own unique problems. For example, your computer can have a small driver problem that will effect just one program but when you decided to run that same program on another computer it runs just fine. The second computer didn’t have that same driver problem and so it was able to run the program just fine. Sometimes when a program hangs, you kill it and then Windows tells you that a program had a problem. This is where Windows will give you an error code. You can type in that same error code to Google and try to figure out what the problem is. This tends to take a long time and involves a lot of detective work to resolve the problem. And as you might have been able to guess, its very specific to your computer’s specifications and your computers exact problems. So instead of trying to address the issue of how to completely stop a program from constantly hanging, I’m going to give you a quick fix: how to stop it from hanging for a really long period of time by killing it.

There are 2 different, but yet similar ways that I’m going to show you here. To start just open up your task manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc at the same time). What this will do is it will open up a window that will have a few tabs on it at the top of the screen. Now click on the tab that says “Application” and in there you will now see a list of the applications that are running with their current status. If there is an application that you think is “hanging” it will have a status that will say “Not Responding” under the area that is labled “status”. What your going to want to do now is to click on the application so that it is highlighted and at the bottom of the windows just click on the small button that says “End Task”. What this will do is it will kill the application. Now, keep in mind that if you have any unsaved work on your computer and you “end task” a program you will loose all of the unsaved data, so use this very cautiously.

Now, the second best way to kill an application is to simply right click on it when you are in the Applications tab of the Task Manager (remember Ctrl + Shift + Esc all at the same time) and click on Go To Process. This will then take you to the Process tab with the program highlighted. All you have to do now is to just right click on the program that is highlighted and click on the End Process Tree option. A bit of caution here: when you perform the End Process Tree option you are killing the program that is hanging and also the programs that are linked to it. Now, if the program that you want to kill either has unsaved work or is important you should not kill it as you might stop other programs that are linked to it from running. Keep this in mind at all times when you want to use this technique.

Isn’t it funny how one day your computer can be running smoothly and then in a few months it can slow down to the point where you just want to throw it out the window? The real question is – exactly why did it slow down? Well the answer isn’t clear cut and easy to digest but most of it has to deal with how the operating system of your computer works. Most Windows based operating systems are designed to work as efficiently as possible, but that unfortunately isn’t the case in real life. What happens is that after time your computer starts to build up junk in many different areas and this is what slows it down (for the most part). All you need to do to make it faster is to remove the junk. The only problem is finding all of the areas that the junk builds up and also removing it.

Where are the areas that junk builds up? There simply are too many to discuss in this article and there also is to many areas that you can tune to make your computer faster so what were going to do is focus on just one area so you have somewhere to start. Start with removing programs that you don’t need anymore. Why? Most people will download a program and then when they realize that they don’t need it anymore they will just leave it on their computer and move on. Why is this bad? First off, that program is taking up space on your hard drive but more importantly it is most likely running in the background of your computer and using up resources that you can be using.

Just to be on the safe side here, don’t remove a program if you don’t know what it is or what it does – your computer might actually be using it. Only remove a program if you know what it is and if you know for sure that your computer doesn’t need it. Here’s how you do it:

If you are a Windows XP user just start by clicking Start, going to the Control Panel, clicking on the Add/Remove Programs and then waiting a little while for the list to be populated (if you have a lot of programs on your computer it will take a while for all of them to appear). Now, just remove the programs that you know you don’t need by clicking on the program and then selecting “Change/Remove”. After that you just have to go through with the process to remove it.

If you are Windows Vista user, click Start, go to Control Panel and make sure that at the top of the window that you have “Classic View” selected. Double click on the Programs and Features button (wait a few seconds for your programs to come up) and just select the programs that you don’t need and select Uninstall to remove them. Remember to only remove programs if you what they are and if you know that you don’t need them.

Simple web designs give a lot of benefits not just to the clients and users but also to designers as well. In this article we will give a rundown of the benefits and advantages of simplified web designs and how you can attain them.

1. Navigation.

Simple websites only includes important information. This makes navigation relatively easy. The key here is to be consistent. You need to put navigation elements in the same place on each page whenever possible. There must be a one main navigation menu. As much as possible do not use drop downs for navigation.

2. Simple web pages loads faster.

When you are designing, make it a rule that you make your file as small as possible. This is of course because of the fact that smaller files loads faster. With simple designs, you will likely be using simple style sheets and less number of HTTP requests.

3. Easy to scan website pages.

When visitors come across a certain website, scanning is the first thing that they do. They scan through the pages and look for something that they need, and when they don’t find anything they will immediately hit back and move on. Thus as a designer, it is a must that you know how to create layouts that clearly presents what your site is all about. As a general rule, present your contents keeping in mind that visitors will scan it in “F” or “E” pattern.

4. Simple code is easier to debug.

When building your site, make sure that you simplify your code right from the very start. Simple codes are easier to debug, thus saving time for the designer.

5. Do not put unnecessary decorative elements.

Though it is still a case to case basis, make sure that you do not put decorative elements that do not serve any purpose. Though your field is designing, the clich “simple is beautiful” still applies to websites.

Google Adwords is the number one advertising option out there, and it’s become a symbol of the growth of the internet since the’90’s crash. Adwords has evolved to offer advertisers a plethora of new options for generating revenue while giving search users accurate results. Largely due to Adwords, websites are no longer just gimmicks, they are viable businesses, but knowing how to use Adwords effectively is your first step to gathering traffic and making your website a profit center.

It only takes five minutes to sign up for Adwords (http://www.adwords.com) from your Google account. You can fund your Adwords for just $10. When you log into Adwords for the first time, one thing you will notice is that there are many options. Don’t start your campaign by playing with Adwords display options. Start your campaign by choosing your keywords.

While you can certainly find keywords on services like Wordtracker, the best keywords will be those you think up yourself. That’s because users judge your site (and Google ranks your pages) on the basis of content, not just keywords. If a keyword has a great KEI and seems like it would roll in traffic for you, it won’t do you any good?and could do you real harm?if you don’t have useful content to match.

Brainstorm to find your own list of keywords, not somebody else’s. Think of the words and phrases that advertise the unique content of your web pages. Once you have your own list of words, only then try the Google Adwords keyword selection tool. What this tool can do for you is to remind you of terms that you simply did not think of in your brainstorming session, and tell you which terms are being searched for on Google and its partners. Anything that has a long bar for a high search volume and a short bar for low competition is a good place to start your campaign.

Limit the number of keywords you use in your first campaign. You won’t be able to test your results, at least you won’t be able to test your results very easily, if you start with more than 10 to 15. More than 15 keywords can make it very hard to control your budget while you are waiting to find out if the keywords generate revenue. Next create a single ad, direct, to the point, and suggesting at least one major feature of your site. When you have your keywords, and your ad, then it’s time to set your budget.

Most site owners who use Google Adwords set budgets on a daily rate. This means that if your budget if $100 a day, Adwords will run ads until your $100 is spent, and not run any more that day. The cycle starts again the next day, assuming there are funds or credit for your Adwords account. You can also set your campaign to run just certain hours of the day, if you think you will get more actual customers at one time of day or another. Or you can program your campaign to spend money evenly through the day. Be sure to set your demographic targets, city, state, country, continent, or world, appropriately for your sales goals. If you are selling bikini wax, for instance, you probably don’t want to run your ads in Saudi Arabia.

With Google Adwords, you have total control over how your ads appear. You control when they appear. You control how much you pay for a click and where your ads are displayed. As you learn to use all these tools in ways that drive your traffic and generate sales, Google Adwords will prove to be your most useful tool for growing your site and your profits.

Search engine optimization and positioning is so popular nowadays that a lot of people are sent unsolicited search engine optimization proposals over the internet. There are a lot of search engine optimization consultants that try to sweet-talk companies and individuals into paying lots of money for search engine optimization with assured results and submission to over 100,000 search engines and directories.

In search engine optimization, there are no immediate results or permanent top positions. There are in reality no warranties in SEO. There are no shortcuts either. Search engine optimization takes heavy work and fine tuning of contents. It also requires tons of patience as results do not come overnight.

Content is also important when it comes to search engine optimization. In fact, it is credibly the single most powerful thing for you to do in order to be found on the World Wide Web. A site that is technically seamless for search engine robots, it will not help you much unless you put in good contents.

Frames cause problem for the people who find your site through search engines. If somebody follows the link from a search result listing to a frame-based site, they will land in a document that is outside of its parent frameset. This will most likely create confusion.

Most search engines do not place great value on meta tags and meta descriptions any longer. They have been utilized way too much by spammers. However that does not mean you should drop it.

Check out your URLs. Make sure your domain name includes an important keyword. Also note important parts in search engine optimization have a right page title. This line of text (in the title tag) shows on the title bar of your browser when you’re looking at a web site and ideally, it should include your primary target keywords. Same goes for search engine optimization of headings. The heading tags of your pages (h1, h2, etc.) serve a dual purpose. They are very useful for search engine optimization.
