Online Movie Trailers For Friday, January 6 Include The Devil Inside

 Powered by Max Banner Ads

Over the course of 2012, I’d like to discuss online movie trailers for upcoming major releases.  I’d like to see if a high view count translates into a big opening weekend.  I’d like to discuss the effectiveness of the trailers online.  I’d like to see if the studios are providing extra content online that builds excitement around the movie.  Here we are, it’s the first weekend in January, and I’d like to make a statement that I make with a lot of people: January is a garbage month for movies.  Holdovers from the previous year and movies getting dumped into a non-competitive weekend frame are the norm.  Every once in awhile, though, there’s a gem, and some buck the trend and become hits. The Devil Inside Has The Weekend Of January 6 All To Itself Let’s take a look at some of the trailers for The Devil Inside , a horror movie that kicks off the 2012 movie season.  First, we’ll take a look at the official trailer: Click here to watch the video. The official trailer has over 2 million views on YouTube.  It’s a pretty good trailer, filled with unexpected screams and body distortions.  It’s got the found footage feel, reminiscent of a similar movie called The Last Exorcism from 2010.  Horror movies have been doing this more and more as an effective technique, because it’s a lot scarier when you see a movie that looks like it might have real footage in it as opposed to a slickly produced, obvious Hollywood product.

Yahoo & ABC Team Up To Deliver News With Web Series Like Newsmakers

With so many people getting news from so many sources, the giants of the medium have begun to lose a lot of their audience.  So now, you have giant corporations teaming up to combine their respective viewers into one large audience to be more attractive to advertisers.  Yahoo News and ABC News are now teaming up to create original series that will play on both of their sites , a potential audience of 100 million.   Yahoo & AOL Launch Newsmakers The first series is  Newsmakers , an interview show with George Stephanopoulos that launched today with a slam-bang opener: an interview with President Barack Obama that live streamed on both sites. This is the type of partnership that looks to combine the best of both brands: Yahoo’s reach to millions of people online, and ABC’s reputation as a major network with dependable news personalities.  Reach and dependability serves as catnip to advertisers.  Plus, what the two entities seem really excited about is being able to reach your mobile devices.  With this kind of reach, they get 25 million visitors a day.

Since we talk about SEO, I figured we should talk about the search engines so you know where to focus (Google) and where you can sort of skip (AOL). Now, I find it odd that this report from comScore is five times longer than the new Video Metrix which has just two charts in it
