Technological innovation has assumed an integral part in the lives of the people especially among children. Media exposure carries both risk and benefits for the children and poses a great challenge to parents to monitor what the children are watching since television has become the main source of knowledge for children.
Media exposures have a strong negative and positive influence on children. Media can shape a kid’s attitude in a positive way by emphasizing cooperation, tolerance, respect, and other socially constructive behavior. On the other hand, negative effects include violence, initiation to drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, obesity, and early exposure to sexual behavior.
Make watching TV a family activity. Consider having a regular “family movie night” at home. Search some kind of kid friendly title that is suitable for the whole family and involve children in choosing and talking about the films you watch together. When a family sits together and watch movies they bring the family closer.
Comedy shows are great for the whole family. Laughing out loud together can make you feel a lot closer; and really, there’s nothing better than a good laugh to make you more energized. So as you can see, comedy shows not only promote a healthy disposition, they also help you achieve general well being.
Funny films and TV shows that make children laugh helps them tolerate pain for longer periods of time according to the study. Making family movie night special can be accomplished by also making it something for the kids to look forward to.
It’s not the kind of shows that you watch that’s really important at all. Your kids can choose to watch just about any TV show that grown-ups will also enjoy. What’s really important is the time spent with each other. Just think of how it would make you feel to gather together in your living room and laughing all the way.
Watching a wholesome comedy with your kids and laughing with them teach them to approach life in a more relaxed way and making them feel less stressed out when things get wrong. It also teaches them that having a sense of humor is a powerful tool to your daily mood and emotional state of good health.
Comedy shows do bring families together, and you are very much encouraged to watch these shows with your children. These shows will not only get them laughing, but teach valuable lessons. By and large the one lesson that you can get by watching comedy shows on TV is to lighten up and enjoy life.

Continue Reading »Motorola W230: Motorola has recently unveiled a new entry level mobile phone specifically targeted towards the Indian market the Motorola W230. The W230 is part of Motorola’s MotoYuva series, which highlights music capabilities more than anything else. It therefore comes with a pre-installed memory card worth 256 megabytes. It’s quite the far stretch from the usual 10 Mb that ships with most mobile phones with more features than this one, which is a pleasant surprise. What’s more, it is expandable to up to 2 Gigs that is enough for more or less 500 songs, should one choose to purchase and upgrade.
Nokia N70: For cell phone and non-cell phone aficionados (if there ever was such a thing in this day and age) alike, the Finnish brand Nokia is a name that needs no further introduction. It is one, if not the forerunner in the cellular phone industry for many years now, and it’s safe to assume for the next few decades to come. Nokia has been churning out model after model of gorgeous handsets since its first inception. This is why one can easily get lost in the model number confusion that arises. But among the cell phone bed of roses from Nokia, an elegant thorn arises pricking every one’s interest, and the Nokia N70 is one of them.
Nokia 6233: As if to solidify their mark in the mobile phone market, Nokia offers us another gem with the Nokia 6233. It’s a candy bar type phone with all the right perks for the modern user, including 3G capabilities. A definite budget solution for those looking for 3G functionality but do not want to splurge too much cash on a smart phone. Being labeled with the 6233 means it may be the worthy successor to the line of Nokia 62 series such as the 6230 and its follow up, the 6230i.
Sony Ericsson T270: Last January 24, 2008 in Delhi, India, the Sony Ericsson merger announced the launch of two new budget phones: The Sony Ericsson T270 and its big brother, the T280. They are a pair of affordable mobile phones with a definite flair for design. The similar looking phones are a pocket sized candy bar featuring a sleek brushed light metal with glass finish and comes in two color combinations; the Silver and Black and the sure to be a hit Copper and Silver combo. The only noticeable difference between the two is the absence of a camera lens at the back of the T270. But before you faint at the idea of a phone not having a camera – be aware first of the target audience of the T270, for it is definitely not a phone not for everyone.
Samsung L320: With the L320, Samsung unveils a sleek mobile phone with the female demography in mind. It is part of Samsung’s La Fleur collection which also includes the Samsung L310. Its design utilizes the smooth operating clamshell type blueprint with dual screens (OLED and TFT) which exudes femininity and modern metropolitan chic. The OLED display works as an external screen to allow quick viewing of information when the clamshell is closed. Once opened, the internal screen of 1.9 inches with up to 65k colors is revealed in all its 176 x 220 pixel glory. I’m guessing the clamshell body would be a definite hit among the female consumers as they can easily drop their mobile phones inside their purses or handbags among other things, without the need to purchase additional protective shells or silicone cases to keep their phones from getting nicked or scratched.

Continue Reading »Climates: A dowdy university instructor Isa is an inattentive husband to his younger, TV-business wife Bahar. Self-absorbed and selfish, Isa only communicates in the most rudimentary way, while she, similarly, detaches into crying jags and juvenile behavior.
The Crocodile: The film-in-the-film is centered on the figure of Italy’s prime minister and media tycoon Silvio Berlusconi, a subject so controversial that even the public television refuse to produce it. While Bonomo’s private life collapses piece by piece, as he’s divorcing from his wife, and the bank is pressing him hard to pay back his long-standing debts, he finds out that struggling to get this movie filmed is the only thing that keeps him alive.
Chronicle of Escape: In 1977, the goalkeeper of the Almagro team is illegally kidnapped from his home, arrested by the government forces and sent blindfolded to Sere Mansion, a clandestine detention center. His acquaintance, who had been tortured for a long period, had falsely accused Claudio of being a revolutionary. Along the months, Claudio is kept nude and handcuffed together with other prisoners and submitted to all sort of humiliations and tortures, until the night they decide to escape from their imprisonment in the old mansion.
Colossal Youth: This is scrambled story telling in slow motion. Often I found myself thinking about Beckett. The dialogs appear irrelevant, having to do with mundane personal life experiences, friends and relatives. These are poorly educated people after all. In fact one better pay close attention to the prate. It is through small revelations and asides in conversations that we pick up the clues to the life of Ventura and those close to him. The quiet and unpretentious acting, the extended takes, the absence of broad movements, the occasional lengthy silence, all can be soporific. Yet one needs to listen carefully.
Friend of the Family: Geremia, an aging tailor/money lender, is a repulsive, mean, stingy man who lives alone in his shabby house with his scornful, bedridden mother. He has a morbid, obsessive relationship with money and he uses it to insinuate himself into other people’s affairs, pretending to be the “family friend”. One day he is asked by a man to lend him money for the wedding of Rosalba, his daughter. Geremia falls in love at first sight with the bewitching creature and and soon indulges in a “beauty and the beast” relationship.
Flanders: In a gray and un-charming part of France, these farming people live. Life is quiet. You start a relation with the girl in the neighbor house. Life would have remained quiet if it wasn’t for war. There’s a shocking contrast here, between the silent life and the brutal battles in Africa. It directly affects also life at home, in an almost as brutal way. Can the things we’ve done, those wounds, be healed? Maybe they can after all. A very tense drama, which is sometimes hard to watch. Well acted, and very far from mainstream action, especially when it comes to psychological violence.
