 Powered by Max Banner Ads

Time Warner Cable has announced that their TWCTV app is coming to Android Tablets but it won’t allow you to watch TV, only to do some things like control your DVR and act as a remote. That’s sort of a let down, really. The iPad app allows streaming of some channels at least

Ooyala Reports Viewers Watch Online Video 40% Longer On Tablets

Ooyala, whom I need to speak with about something else and who should email me (yeah, I know it works because I’ve done it before), put out a pretty rockin new infographic on Friday which talked about video consumption. I just happened to stumble upon it when I was looking for info on their Ooyala Social (which I also need to talk to them about) which adds a bunch of social features to the HD streaming video experience (like Hulu has, sort of like LeanIn provides, etc). Android Tablet Video Consumption On The Rise So right, the infographic.

Hulu Will Create Original Content, Hires Filmmaker Morgan Spurlock

Hulu is following Netflix’s lead again, and has announced that they will begin creating their own original content. You might remember that Netflix outbid all the major television networks for the rights to House of Cards , which will star Kevin Spacey and represent the company’s first foray into content creation. And now Hulu has made a similar move into content creation by hiring documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock to create an original series called “A Day in the Life.” Hulu Original Content – A Day In The Life “A Day in the Life,” not to be confused with the ‘YouTube movie,’ Life in a Day, is a six part documentary series chronicling 24-hour periods in the lives of “fascinating people.” And unlike Netflix’s original series, which is still a long way off from airing, A Day in the Life will begin airing in two weeks–August 17th, in fact

Android Tablets Make Waves, But Is It Too Late To Catch iPad?

When the original iPad launched, there was a great deal of skepticism regarding it’s viability–was the world ready for tablet computing? Clearly, Apple has been proven right in that matter, laughing all the way to the bank

AOL Europe Picks Up GoViral, Online Video Service for $97M

AOL Europe (which sounds strange, America Online Europe), just picked up GoViral , an online branded video content provider over on this side of the pond, reported The Guardian . The company distributes branded video content guaranteeing audiences and user initiated video plays for advertisers on a pay-for-performance basis. So it would appear that AOL Europe is planning on getting into the branded video industry, or rather, already have.

Best Online Video Ad Campaign: Logitech Revue Plays The Kevin Bacon Game

Google seems pretty intent on pursuing this Google TV thing, despite the television networks’ initial skepticism.  There’s just too much evidence that consumers want technology that helps blur the lines between broadcast TV and online video–and Google TV helps provide that.

Just the other day I came across a discussion regarding the The SEO Industry’s Reputation Problem on Sphinn.com. After going through the discussion, I strongly feel that if the reputation of the SEO industry has been tarnished by people who call themselves SEOs despite not having any knowledge or experience in anything search-engines-related, then the responsibility of bringing back the reputation and making the industry more respect worthy is also on the shoulders of the knowledgeable SEOs. Every industry has fly by night companies cropping up who making a fast buck by fooling some people.

Suing YouTube commenters is all the rage.  Hot on the heels of the news that a Manhattan judge has ruled that Google must turn over the names of anonymous YouTube commenters to former model Carla Franklin, we have another case involving legal action against users of the video site. There’s a bit of back-story involved,

The head of my top agency client’s PPC team came to me this morning to inform me that surprisingly, the daily PPC spend cap they set on a major client had been used up before 10AM, and that he was going to move more money over.  It was a heads-up notification as much as a bounce-back on whether it would be okay given that I’m responsible for the overall client effort. I immediately thought back to #BlueglassLA when it was announced that they’d be rolling out Organics and PPC in the August/September time-frame
