Ogilvy’s Advanced Video Practice Gives Clients A Dedicated Video Specialist Team

Man when I heard Ogilvy, yeah, that Ogilvy , had an all new online video offering they were dealing out to their clients, I said “Self, we need to talk with them and find out what that’s all about!” The other half of me, whose task it is to answer such statements, agreed, and so I got down to emailing people. Ultimately, I ended up with a chance to speak with Robert Davis, Interactive Marketing Director and Director of Advanced Video Practice over at Ogilvy New York

Google Social Search; the Lost Update

Can you imagine there being a change at Google that pre-dates Panda, (and subsequent incarnations) the +1 button, the attribution algo updates and few if any in the SEO world had noticed? I mean, it makes one helluva trivia question don’t it? Not as much fun as; What does Archie comics have to do with the early history of search

In the past I’ve described Google’s Hotpot service as an “evolution to places.” This moniker has been both very accurate and somewhat misleading; Hotpot and Places were different services that, while they shared a huge portion of the same territory, existed independently. At least, that was the case until a recent Google announcement that revealed Hotpot is merging fully with Places.

Google Discusses the Importance of Anonymity

Image via Google Public Policy Google has made some recent updates to their interface, including a more succinct settings menu, as easier way to switch between accounts, and a more visual way of navigating between different services. Analysts have put a variety of potential uses on these changes, ranging from simply updating the graphics to setting the framework for Google +1, the Google social network that may not be as big of a disaster as Buzz. However, the Google Public Policy Blog has given us another potential reason: helping users maintain appropriate anonymity

Tapping the Asian E-Commerce Mitochondria: Multiply and Real World E-Commerce

I would have prepared an abstract for this rather lengthy post, well you’ve been warned, but instead I’m inviting you to read on if you’re interested to know more about the Asian online market. Mind that this isn’t a research paper; hence I wouldn’t be presenting any detailed charts and/or graphs, rather, I would derive most of my statements from real world experiences

For some time now, “moving to L.A. to break into the movie business” has been the clichéd pipe dream for most creative young Americans.  I live in Nashville, and I can tell you that a close second is “moving to Nashville to become a country music star.”  But the digital world may be changing all that.  In a few years’ time, the most common pipe dream might very well be “starting my own YouTube channel and making a six figure income,” if it’s not already.A new study by TubeMogul —a leading video advertising and analytics platform—reveals that there are at least 10 YouTube stars making an annual income of $100,000 or greater.  The study covered t… Read more..

Harnessing Off-Site Videos to Increase E-Commerce Visibility

Videos’ impact on search rankings has been discussed here rather extensively in the past.  A few months ago we  interviewed Search Engine Marketing and Optimization veteran Bruce Clay who helps clarify the importance of on-site videos for search rankings: “In the case of video, we believe that as one of the more important engagement objects, Google has actually started to build it into the algorithm.  To us, that means if your website has engagement objects on it,  video or mp3…  it is going to be received by the algorithm better and your site will actually have an opportunity to rank better
